Scandinavians Celebrate Dutch New York: Henry Hudson and Beyond
Date: Thursday, November 12
Location: Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 4th Avenue & 80th Street
Dutch New York was a polyglot of cultures and religions and the Scandinavians were an integral group in this colony. Yet, the history of both groups is little known to the average New Yorker. This event will shed light on that forgotten history. Beginning with the general, Pascal Theunissen will speak about his new book, Nederlands in New York. This will be followed by the more specific, as we look at the various interesting Scandinavian characters that were part of early New York – New Amsterdam. This event will begin at 7:00 pm at Our Saviour’s Church located on the corners of 80th Street & Fourth Avenues in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. The ticket price is $20.00 and the lectures will be followed by a wine & cheese reception. For further information, contact Victoria at 718-749-5950. Reservations are suggested but not required.
